Video Icons

Throughout the book you will find video icons similar to this example. Scanning these icons with a mobile device using a QR code reader app will play a video relevant to the story.

 

 

Slideshow Icons

At the end of nearly all chapters you will find a Slideshow icon. Scanning a slideshow icon will display a selection of photos relevant to that chapter.

A map is included at the end of each slideshow. This provides a reference to the location(s) referred to in the chapter.

 

QR Code Reader Apps

To play a video or display the photos, you will need to scan the icons with your mobile tablet or smartphone. A QR code reader app is required. If you do not have a QR Code reader app installed on your device, please down load the app from your app store.

Recommended QR Code Reader Apps:
QR Code reader apps are free. However some are more user friendlier than others. These apps are recommended:
 – Android: Barcode Scanner (by ZXing)
 – IOS: If you have IOS11, no app is required. Just point your camera at the QR code, then tap the url link to open in Safari. Otherwise download QR Code Scanner (TwinBit)/ QRBot.

App Settings.
In most QR Code Reader apps, the settings will have an option to open web page links automatically. Set that option to on.

Can’t scan with a QR Code Reader?
If you are unable to scan using a QR Code Reader, you can manually enter the URL into your browser. In the middle of each icon is a small two character code (eg “t1”). Add that two letter code to the end of www.myseniorgapyear.com/__   (eg: www.myseniorgapyear.com/t1)

Watching Videos

Once the video appears, look for the full screen symbol to enjoy the video in full screen. Landscape mode is recommended. Best viewed on a laptop/ desktop screen or ipad/ tablet.

Watching Slideshows

Once the first photo appears, look for the full screen symbol to enjoy the slide show in full screen. Use the next photo arrow symbol to manually advance to the next photo. Landscape mode is recommended. Similarly, best viewed on a laptop/ desktop screen or ipad/ tablet.
